“We demoed Driveri and got to see the results of the Netradyne technology and the data dashboard, it was pretty fantastic. We’ve already seen improvements.”
“They just hit it, and things scraped along the side, and they just kept going. I got pictures of them, pictures of the truck, pictures of truck’s license plate – all these things.”

Chas Roberts implemented dash cams right in the nick of time, as they quickly caught a hit and run against one of their parked vehicles. Thankfully, the Driveri dash cam caught the culprit.

After seeing repeated unsafe driving violations, the company got together for a presentation on safe driving, where their violations were played out for the entire team.

Company
Chas Roberts is one of the largest HVAC plumbing and repair companies that specializes in residential new construction. The HVAC company has served the Phoenix area for more than 80 years, and they report that they have installed an estimated 80% of air conditioning in Arizona.
Challenge
Chas Roberts originally partnered with another GPS tracking provider, but quickly found that they needed more. Shaun Hair, Human Resource Director, was looking for a whole-system solution – GPS tracking, dash cams, and field management software.
And that’s not all.
While they have been using fleets for the past 82 years, they still considered themselves novices in the telematics sector and wanted additional support.
Another need for Chas Roberts included industry know-how, such as networking, best practices, and how-to’s regarding fleet reports.
That’s when Hair found GPS Insight.
Solution
“We demoed Driveri and got to see the results of the Netradyne technology and the data dashboard, it was pretty fantastic,” he said. “We’ve already seen improvements.”
Hair said dash cams were needed on the team for a variety of reasons. Above all, ensuring they had full visibility of what happened both inside and outside of the cab led to them seeking a provider who specialized in both GPS tracking and dash cams.
“The executive team essentially said, ‘Hey, we want truth to tell the story and we would rather win with truth and win with less,’ and so, ultimately, it helps keep our drivers safe in the community,” he said.
As it turns out, Chas Roberts implemented dash cams right in the nick of time, as they quickly caught a hit and run against one of their parked vehicles. Thankfully, the Driveri dash cam caught the culprit.
“They just hit it, and things scraped along the side, and they just kept going,” he said. “I got pictures of them, pictures of the truck, pictures of truck’s license plate – all these things.”
On top of defending their drivers, management was able to educate the drivers on road safety and incentivize safe driving behaviors. After seeing repeated unsafe driving violations, the company got together for a presentation on safe driving, where their violations were played out for the entire team.
“We’ve had pretty dramatic footage of drivers running red lights, our own drivers – with no one getting injured, thank goodness – but just blowing through them, and you can see their expression,” he said. “They realize what they did, and then we’re able to use that for helpful conversations and coaching moments with the team. That has resulted in fleetwide increase in safety scores, more driver stars, the whole deal.”
But for Hair, the best part of switching to GPS Insight was our ability to help them navigate the world of telematics and support them in the industry.
“We needed someone that could say, ‘Hey, here’s best practices,’ and really be responsive to us,” he said. “’Here’s what it looks like to be good at what you do when it comes to fleets,’ and we weren’t getting even the minimal amount of care or support from our previous provider. Whereas GPS Insight had a lot more of those connections, availability and ability to give us those kinds of evaluations, and that has been helpful thus far.”
For Chas Roberts, GPS Insight was an investment that gave them the results they needed and results they could use. Thanks to GPS Insight, Chas Roberts has created a safe driving environment for themselves and their community, becoming a well-rounded player in the fleet industry.
